Quality of life and health is less about
medical care than about the basic prerequisites of access to food, shelter,
transportation, clean air and water, education, physical safety, social
ties and meaningful jobs paying sufficient wages. This expands on the
idea that no person or family is an island; everyone's life is bound
up in the community they live in.
We all share the aspiration to live a healthy
life in a healthy community. How can communities achieve the best quality
of life for their citizens? How will community stakeholders find all
they need to stay informed and steer the community in positive directions?
What is the best way to help citizens get involved in the process of
improving quality of life in their communities?
The Healthy Communities Foundation mission is
to improve quality of life, community health and environmental sustainability
by providing information systems designed to promote the transparency
and accountability of activities that drive these goals.
